Couple photography works on interaction. Every idea below gives the two of you something to do, because two people told to stand together and smile become strangers instantly.
In short: Couple photography works on interaction. Every idea below gives the two of you something to do, because two people told to stand together and smile become strangers instantly.
Couples at any stage who have no decent photograph of the two of them that was not taken at arm's length.
Actually talking, moving, not looking at the lens. Shot from in front, from behind, and from the side.
Kitchen light, ordinary clothes, no styling. The most honest pictures most couples ever get.
Genuinely, with music. It produces the frames people print.
Portraits where only one of you is sharp. Gives a set variety beyond the two-heads-together frame.
Hard on-camera flash on a street after dark — the defining look of current couple photography and far more flattering than its reputation.
The photographer hands over a list of embarrassing questions. Everything after the first answer is usable.
Foreheads together, eyes closed, no smiling. It is the picture that ends up on the wall.
Cycling, cooking, walking a dog, sitting in your regular pub. The specificity is what makes it yours rather than generic.
Somewhere you actually go together. If you want recognisable London, shoot early — the landmark spots are unusable after about nine on a weekend morning. A park, a street with texture and one interior give enough variety without long walks between.
Check the exact landowner before fixing the call sheet. London parks, streets and private estates do not share one photography rule; the location guides name the responsible authority and the date on which its guidance was checked.
Mariya charges £300 per hour for fashion, portrait / personal branding and brand / commercial photography. The booking includes 10 retouched photographs for the whole shoot, delivered within two weeks. Bring your own wardrobe at no styling charge, or add clothing, accessories and shoes supplied by Mariya at £100 per look. Studio hire and applicable travel are separate.
Walking hand in hand, forehead to forehead, one standing behind the other, seated and leaning together, the whisper, and cropped hand details. All six are movements rather than held poses.
Be given something to do. Talking, walking, asking each other questions — the frames in between the instructions are the ones that work.
Somewhere you already go, early in the morning if it is a recognisable spot. Familiarity produces better pictures than scenery.
Send the date, location and what you need photographed.
